I have always been a firm believer that art tells you more about yourself than it does about the person who created the piece. When you look at a photograph, painting, sculpture or drawing you pull from your life and your memories to decide how you feel about the piece. Two people can view the same piece of art and have completely different reactions. They can view a picture of a sunset and think it is the most beautiful scene ever and tie it to a sweet memory of a sunset, while the other person could view that sunset and feel completely heartbroken. Some people see abandoned buildings and feel a sad loss to have that building be forgotten or maybe even a fear inside them comes up. Others see the building and wonder who was there, why was it abandoned and then see nature taking that spot of land back to the earth as the plants and ground slowly devour what humans put there. Please view my art and see the beauty in the abandoned, the dark and the strange and see it as beauty and even humor. These pieces come from a place of wonder. The dark has always intrigued me. What we see in the light is wonderful and safe, what we can’t see in the dark is what causes wonder and excite in me.
